Integrating Sex, Attachment and EFT
Sexual connection is a powerful part of the couple bond—and often one of the places where attachment security and insecurity are most clearly expressed. This presentation introduces an attachment-based understanding of sexuality within Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT). It will examine how emotional and sexual connection influence one another, how attachment strategies shape desire and sexual engagement, and how negative relational cycles can become sexual cycles of pursuit, pressure, avoidance, and disconnection. The presentation will highlight how EFT provides a framework for helping couples create the emotional safety, responsiveness, and secure connection that support more open, satisfying, and integrated sexual relationships.
